Ensuring Passenger & Railway Safety: 3D Engineering Surveys’ Urgent Work for Network Rail

Writer: 3dengineeringsurveys3dengineeringsurveys

3D engineering surveys reacts to an urgent call out in Central London to carry out a precise track survey for Network Rail. Movement on one of the structures meant that immediate action was required. Working overnight, our teams mapped the track and buried utilities, including drainage and the structure. We deployed six surveyors and two 1-second TS16 total stations, DNA03 level, Leica p40 laser scanner, Laser sweep, GPR, and RD8200. The data was promptly sent to the designers, who turned around the design in record time. It was decided to go for a propping structure as the footbridge was on the move. 3D engineering surveys provided 24-hour engineering support, checking the design validity onsite and liaising with the designers and clients CEM throughout. Our engineers carried out site marking out, trial pit logging, pile logs, and final positioning of anchor bolts. We also supplied contractors responsible engineer (Track) and hand back engineer during the project. Finally, we have set up a monitoring system to ensure the structure remains safe for customers on the trains passing underneath every two minutes and the public on foot overhead.
